Dear Hellyer Families,
It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is near. Soon, students will be on summer vacation. Some students will be attending our Summer Enrichment Programs and other students will be spending time engaged in other activities with friends and families. When I stop to think of how much our students have grown from the first day of school, I am amazed at the growth. Students have grown as individuals and in their social and emotional learning.
I want to thank all of our families for all the effort and support you have given to your child, our staff, and the school. Without your support to get students to school every day, encouraging them at home, and working together with our teachers, our students would not have been successful this year. We have had some great school wide events this year including the Halloween Festival, our Annual Winter Performance, a Movie Night, Ice Cream Social, and the many parent involvement groups such as ELAC and School Site Council. These events would not be possible without the dedication and involvement of both our staff and families working together for our students.
Next year, we will continue to work to provide the best first instruction for our students while focusing on providing more strategic interventions and supports for students that may be below grade level. Teachers will continue to strategically use technology in the classroom to further engage students and also provide support as needed. We also plan to increase our family engagement and provide some workshops for families to be able to better support students at home.
I personally want to thank all our Hellyer families for the warm welcome you have extended to me during my first year at Hellyer as Principal. It has been a great year getting to know the families and students. We have all worked side by side to support student success. I would also like to take this opportunity to let the Hellyer community know that I will not be returning to Hellyer for the 2019-2020 school year. I am relocating to Southern California in order to be closer to my family and support them during their time of need. It has been an honor to serve the Hellyer community and I am confident the staff here at Hellyer will continue to provide the best for all students.
