Dear G.W. Hellyer Community,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of Hellyer Elementary School. It is truly an honor to become part of the Hellyer family and community. Even though I have only had limited interactions with the faculty and parents thus far, I can already tell that it is a unique and special place. I am incredibly excited to become a part of the community.
I come to you with 21 years of experience as an educator in the Franklin-McKinley School District. I taught physical education at Sylvandale Middle school for nine years, worked four years as a Vice Principal at Fair Middle School (now Bridges Academy), and served as Principal at Franklin Elementary for eight years.
As I get to know our building, our community, and familiarize myself with the unique needs of our school, I want to connect with each of you to hear your hopes and dreams for our school. I believe wholeheartedly that every student deserves a quality education and that only happens when the school and the families work together for the best interests of our children. With that in mind, I will call on all of our faculty, staff, and families to work as a single team so we can best serve our children.
I am honored to have this opportunity to serve our families and staff. My main responsibility is to support our teachers to be in the best possible position to succeed, as they will in turn put our children and families in the best possible position to succeed. I look forward to meeting each of you and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.
