FMSD's Safe Return Plans Based on Public Health Guidance

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) developed a new framework for the safe return to in-person instruction in the fall (published July 12, 2021). This framework is an update to reopening guidance issued by the CDPH for returning to in-person instruction published on January 14, 2021, for the 2020-2021 school year. This is also an update to the COVID-19 and Reopening In-Person Learning Framework for K-12 Schools in California, 2020-2021 School Year (published July 17, 2020) guidance as well as supersedes the guidance in the COVID-19 Prepared: Reopening of Santa Clara County K-12 Schools (published September 21, 2020). The foundational principle of this latest guidance is that all students must have access to safe and full in-person instruction and to as much instructional time as possible. We do expect guidance to continue to evolve and impact in-person and independent study guidance. Our goal is to re-evaluate our plans and procedures every 6 months with input from all stakeholders (i.e., parents, staff, students, etc.,) and relevant guidance from the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and CDPH.

Based on this new framework, the following documents linked below provide crucial information to our community on what FMSD (previously as well as) is currently implementing to keep students and staff safe while on campuses during in-person instruction.
