Wellness Policy
Health Information Policy – Students in grades 1, 3, and 5 will receive vision screening and students in grades 1, 2, and 5 will receive hearing screenings. In addition, all first grade boys will be given a Color Blind Exam. Hellyer School is prohibited from dispensing over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol. When a student is required to take a prescribed medication during school hours, a form signed by the parent/guardian and physician must be on file in the office. All medication must be in its original container and dispensed by the designated office staff. TB skin tests and immunizations need to be kept up to date by office personnel/district nurse. There is a District Health Clinic, which is located at 645 Wool Creek Dr., which provides the necessary immunizations as well as acute care. Their number is (408) 283-6051. They also service teachers who need current TB skin tests.
Medication-Nurse/Office Staff – Students who need to take medication at school must do so under the direction of the Office Staff.
