Greeting parents and students of FMSD, My name is Brian Nhieu and I am the lead director behind our GATE Coding Program. I am currently the President of Andrew Hill High School's Coding Club and alumni from G.W. Hellyer Elementary. Our outreach program involves high school students volunteering/tutoring students in the Coding Program. We teach students ranging from the 4th-6th graders who are interested in learning the language of the future. Our program begins with students working with code.org programs, then working with Scratch. The students will work from animations to video games in Scratch. Each project in scratch works with topics that allow creativity, but also follows lessons that are taught in class. After students finish their projects within scratch, we begin working on bigger and better things. This year, students will be working on Lego Mindstorm Robotic Kits and more to come. But, these products take a lot of funds to provide for our students.
We will be fundraising after school in Mrs. Nguyen room(4/5th grade; D-4), feel free to stop by and support our program! If anyone has any questions regarding the program or how to support, feel free to reach me, email@example.com, or Mrs. Nguyen, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you and have a nice day! Best Regards, Brian Nhieu and the Coding Team
